According to the official Emirates News Agency (WAM), the UAE government will grant outstanding students and their families a ten-year golden iqama "in appreciation of their efforts within the framework of the UAE government's direction to create an attractive and encouraging environment for the talented."

The Emirates indicated that the golden iqama is granted to outstanding students with an average of at least 95 percent in the general secondary certificate from public or private schools, in addition to university graduates with a cumulative average of at least 3.75 in specific disciplines inside or outside the country.

The golden iqama is a long-term visa system that allows a foreigner residing in the UAE for five or 10 years without the need for an Emirati sponsor, as it is automatically renewed if the same conditions are met.

This iqama , which was approved in 2018, is granted to certain categories, including investors, entrepreneurs, and those with specialized talents.

Last January, the Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced legal amendments allowing the granting of Emirati citizenship and passport to investors, talented and specialized scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, intellectuals and their families.
