Consul General of Bangladesh meets Director General of Passport and Immigration of Makkah Region
The Consul General of Bangladesh in Jeddah Mr. Miah Md. Mainul Kabir had a meeting on today, 10 October 2024, with the Director General of Passport & Immigration, Makkah Al Mukarramah province Major General Faisal Bin Mohammad Al Rajehi at the latter's office in Jeddah. After the exchange of pleasantries, various issues related to expatriate Bangladeshis were discussed. The Consul General mentioned Bangladesh Government's policy to stop all forms of illegal migration. He further mentioned that Bangladeshi expatriates are contributing to the economics of both Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia. He also underscored the importance of the remittances sent to Bangladesh through the banking channel. The Director General also highly appreciated their contribution.

The Consul General asked the DG to expedite the process & make it smooth for Bangladeshi nationals to get their special exit permit, also to accept a maximum number to register bio-metric before getting exit visa to facilitate their return to Bangladesh. The Director General agreed and instantly advised the concerned to implement these. The Director General mentioned the special immigration initiative "Road to Makkah" undertaken for Bangladeshi pilgrims. The Consul General thanked for implementing the initiative in Bangladesh. In response to the Director General's stress on the necessity of following local rules and regulations, the Consul General mentioned that expatriate Bangladeshis are mostly law abiding. However, in some cases, they're victims of circumstances and even face abuse or are misguided by recruiting agencies or companies in KSA. He assured to continue the Mission's campaign among the Bangladeshi community to abide by all Saudi regulations. The Consul General highlighted the scope of increasing trade and investment relationships between Bangladesh and KSA. The meeting ended with an exchange of thanks by both sides.
